We are Charity of the year for the Infinity Stage Company at the University of Birmingham

9th November 2020

9th November 2020 Update

Rebecca at the Infinity Stage Company at the University of Birmingham kindly sent us this fundraising update:

“Our interview with Daniel Battsek went very well and we had a great turn out! We have raised almost £200 and our aim is to raise £250 by the end of this term – hopefully, we will raise much more though! We have a couple more live Q&A’s planned for the upcoming weeks and so I feel positive that we will be able to reach, and overtake, our fundraising target for this term.

Our first three radio plays are cast and beginning their rehearsals. We aren’t sure whether the tighter lockdown measures will slower the process of getting the shows aired but I’ll keep in touch and let you know the dates.”

We have an update from the Infinity Stage Company based at the University of Birmingham who have been chosen as their fundraising charity of the year.

“Due to the social distancing rules we have unfortunately not been able to put on performances and raise money in our traditional way. However, we are instead hosting a radio show once a week at Burn FM (the university’s student led radio show) where we are putting on radio plays written and performed by students. We have auditions for voice actors this week and we are very excited! We will use our slot on the radio show to raise awareness for your charity and hopefully get donations via our Just Giving Page (link below).

In addition, we have managed to get the director of film4, Daniel Battsek, to join us for an interview and live q&a over zoom on 2nd November. We are extremely excited and are hoping to get a lot of students with an interest in film/tv/theatre to come to this event where we will strongly suggest for attendees to donate to our just giving page.”

We are delighted to announce that we have been chosen this year by the Infinity Stage Company based at the University of Birmingham as their fundraising charity of the year. We wish to say a massive thank you to Rebecca at the company and all the people who will be doing all kinds of ‘Covid-compliant’ activities and fundraising events in aid of us as well as donating their profits from performances. The generous support of our fundraisers helps support our autistic adult and family services, including our helpline, and the addition of Infinity’s support

will make a big difference to us and our supported people.

We asked Rebecca for a few words about what they are planning and why they chose us this year for their kind fundraising.

“Infinity Stage Company is a student drama society at The University of Birmingham that donate all the proceeds from their productions to a local, Birmingham charity. This academic year Infinity are delighted to be fundraising and donating their profits to Autism West Midlands!

Infinity are dedicated to high quality, character-driven and contemporary theatre to raise money for charity but we also fundraise through cake sales, quizzes, football tournaments (a highlight of the year) and our annual Winter Ball. As a charitable drama society our ethos is compassion and care, and we are inspired by Autism West Midlands and their dedication to provide help and support for autistic people and their families.

We look forward to the year ahead, whatever it holds, and hope to fundraise enough to make a valuable contribution to the incredible work that Autism West Midlands do.”
