Message from the CEO of Autism West Midlands, Phil Middlewood
This Autism Awareness Week it is important that we continue to raise the profile of Autism within our local communities so that Autistic people are given the same opportunities as everyone else. It is our vision as a charity to see a world where everyone is treated as equal citizens and we continue to provide much needed support to autistic people and their families and carers.
This week has also been a chance for us to reflect on the past year during the COVID19 pandemic and all of the challenges that not only autistic people faced but ones that we faced as a charity. 2020 brought many difficulties for the charity and we had to very quickly make many changes to the support we provided and the ways in which we provided this. The staff have worked tirelessly across the organisation to keep everyone we support happy, supported and safe. There still continues to be lots of challenges and changes that we are adapting to but I am proud of how we have pulled together.
Thank you to everyone for continuing to support Autism West Midlands and thank you to all of our staff who continue to show amazing levels of determination and courage in providing much needed support to autistic people.
