We are looking to recruit a Autism Specialist Advisor –Black Country

Salary: £20118.85 - £21750.13

Hours: 37 

Location: The role is ‘hybrid’ with office space available in Kings Norton.

This is an exciting time to join Autism West Midlands as we continue to develop our services for autistic adults and children in Birmingham and the Black Country.

Our Community Services team enables autistic adults, children, and their families to access support within their local community to build resilience, confidence and skills to actively participate in society.

The post holder will primarily deliver support autistic adults, children and families by the delivery of events and activities in the Black Country, in particular the delivery of element of the following

  • Wellbeing sessions for autistic adults
  • Stay and Play sessions for families
  • Workshops for siblings

Alongside these activities the post holder will support the general delivery of community-based support and advice to adults, children and families across Birmingham and the Black Country, a proportion of which is delivered online.

For this reason, the role is ‘hybrid’ with office space available in Kings Norton and an expectation to attend one day a week. However, most of the delivery will take place at home (for on-line delivery) and in local communities for workshops and wellbeing sessions. As a result, a full driving licence and access to a car is essential for this role.

We are looking for someone, based in the Black Country, with experience of supporting autistic adults and/or children and families outside of a residential setting, or with experience of delivering community-based advice and support to people with other vulnerabilities such as adults with mental health problems or children with SEND.

The ability to work independently and experience of delivering support via Zoom or Microsoft Teams is essential.

This is 12 month fixed term post due to funding conditions with the possibility of extension.
