Senior Support Worker, Supported Living

The best thing about working as a Support Worker for Autism West Midlands is knowing that you make a difference to people’s lives, especially when we support people to access the community, participate in activities of real interest and achieve things that are important to them. Seeing them enjoying their life it really makes it worth it.

My name is Jayne and I work as a Senior Support Worker within a supported living scheme at Autism West Midlands. The scheme provides support to both male and female autistic adults.

I have been with Autism West Midlands for nearly 9 years and started as a Support Worker. Although I didn’t have any previous experience working with autistic adults before I started, I applied what I learnt during training and from my team. I soon learnt you can really make a difference in people’s lives and not to judge situations or behaviours without seeing the whole picture.

My team members at Autism West Midlands are incredibly supportive, I know I will always get the support I need to do my job well. The atmosphere created makes it easy to approach them.
